AldSocial does not require you to publish your phone number. Activity chat is available only to participating members, subject to the activity workflow.
1. Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy applies to the AldSocial browser application, public website and related services (together, the “Service”). In this policy, “AldSocial”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of the AldSocial Service.
The Service is intended for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly permit children to create accounts.
2. Information you provide
- Account information, such as your email address, password or sign-in credential, name and account identifier.
- Profile information, such as age or birth month and year, gender, city or locality, approximate location, time zone, avatar, biography and interests.
- Activity information, including activities you create or join, venue and meeting details, availability, preferences, invitations, approvals and attendance-related actions.
- Messages and user content shared in activity chats, profiles, reports, feedback or support requests.
- Discovery preferences, such as activities, skill levels, schedules, distance, age or gender preferences and whether you want to be discoverable to compatible people.
3. Information collected through use of the Service
- Location information when you choose a place, enable location access or use nearby discovery. Device permission controls whether precise device location is available.
- Usage and technical information, such as feature interactions, timestamps, IP address, device and browser information, diagnostics and security logs.
- Notification information, such as delivery status and your notification choices.
- Transaction and subscription status if paid plans are offered. App stores or payment providers process payment credentials; AldSocial may receive purchase status and identifiers rather than full card details.
4. How we use information
- Provide, secure and maintain accounts, activities, invitations, approvals, chats and notifications.
- Show relevant nearby activities and people based on location, interests and preferences.
- Personalise recommendations and measure whether features work as intended.
- Prevent spam, fraud, harassment and unsafe behaviour; investigate reports; enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines.
- Respond to support requests and communicate important service or policy updates.
- Comply with legal obligations and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
5. What other members can see
Depending on your settings and participation, other members may see profile details, shared interests, approximate area, activity history or counts, activities you host, and content you deliberately share. Exact activity meeting information and chat access are intended to be limited according to the member’s relationship to that activity, such as host, approved participant or non-participant.
Do not post sensitive personal information, private addresses, financial details or another person’s information without permission.
6. When information is shared
- With other members as necessary for discovery, activity coordination and features you choose to use.
- With infrastructure, email, notification, mapping, moderation, analytics, customer-support and payment providers that process information for us under appropriate obligations.
- When required by law, legal process or a valid government request, or when reasonably necessary to protect people, rights, safety and the integrity of the Service.
- As part of a merger, financing, acquisition, restructuring or sale, subject to applicable law and appropriate notice.
- With your direction or consent.
7. Location and mapping services
Location helps AldSocial show relevant activities and people nearby. You can deny device location permission and may still enter a locality manually, although nearby features may be limited.
Map and geocoding features may send a place query or coordinates to a mapping provider. Their handling of information is governed by their own policies.
8. Retention and deletion
We retain information while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. Retention periods vary by data type and purpose. We may retain limited records for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance and enforcement, and will explain legally required exceptions where applicable.
When an account deletion request is completed, we delete or de-identify account data and user-generated content associated with the account, except information we must or are permitted to retain. Some information may remain temporarily in protected backups before routine deletion.
9. Your choices and rights
- Review and update eligible profile and preference information in the app.
- Control device permissions, notifications, discovery and visibility settings where available.
- Request access, correction, deletion or a copy of your information, subject to applicable law.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; this does not affect earlier lawful processing.
- Request account deletion by following the email instructions on our Account Deletion Request page. AldSocial does not currently provide an in-app deletion function.
10. Security and international processing
We use administrative, technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information. No service can guarantee absolute security, so protect your credentials and tell us promptly about suspected unauthorised access.
The Service may remember your session in your browser. Use a trusted, updated browser, protect access to your device and sign out when using a shared device.
Authorised AldSocial personnel and service providers may access information when necessary to operate, secure, support or legally administer the Service. Access is intended to be limited to a legitimate purpose and protected by appropriate safeguards.
Information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use recognised safeguards for international transfers.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the Service changes. We will revise the date above and provide additional notice when required. Read the plain-language Privacy, Safety & Security Centre, or send privacy questions and requests to [email protected] through our Contact page.
